  1. I purchased my Aroma rice cooker at Target as I love rice. I originally bid on a much more expensive one on ebay but was outbid even at $120. Anyhow, I was at Target, saw this one and thought…what the heck. I followed directions to make 4 cups of brown rice. I hit the brown rice button and that was it. One hour and 45 minutes later I ate what I consider to be the best brown rice I have ever had. It didn’t stick together as you get at fine restaurants, and it was fluffy. I loved it! The best feature (I think) about this machine is that when your rice is cooked, it automatically switches over to keep warm setting. Therefore, you can never overcook it. If you undercook it it’s only because you didn’t allow it to cook for the time the instructions tell you to. I am now so glad that I purchased this one. I paid $35 for it versus the $120 I would have paid for the Zojirushi 3 cup rice cooker.

  2. My family loves rice. I have always cooked it on the stove (the old fashioned way) until my husband bought me this Aroma Rice Cooker (ARC-998). I never went back to the pot on the stove method again. This rice cooker makes it a breeze to cook rice. Unfortunately, my Aroma Rice Cooker (ARC-998) is now in pieces in my kitchen cupboard. When my husband and I were away one weekend my son decided he wanted to make some brown rice (to show his friends how easy it was to cook brown rice (and probably impress them at the same time)). Well, he put in the brown rice and followed the instructions but when he put in the water he put in enough to make white rice. It boiled over and made a rice starchy mess all over my kitchen. In hopes of cleaning up his mess my son took the inside of the lid apart. Now we can’t get it back together. I contacted Aroma Customer Service but their representative told me it wasn’t made to be taken apart and they didn’t know how to put it back together and they couldn’t help me.
I stopped at Walmart to check the Aroma Rice Cookers they have on display (thinking I could see how it’s put together and then come home and mirror that.) No luck. The Aroma Rice Cookers they how have are a newer model and do not have the steam vent mine does. If anyone who has the ARC-998 (just like the one pictured) could please post photos of the inner parts of the lid, especially how the pieces fit together (steam vent and rubber flange and the rubber ring) I would greatly (oh so greatly) appreciate it! Thanks!
